Heyo!
I know I've said it before but it's very true, Autumn is such a brilliant season! There's just so many perks to it, the crisp air in the mornings that isn't bitter like in Winter, the smells of pumpkins and cinnamon and all things autumnal and all the layers and comfy cosy clothing you can wear. I thought it would be really nice to share with you some of the reasons why I love Autumn, and hopefully you either feel the same already, or it might shed a new light on a season you might not be too keen on.
Clothes
Something that I really enjoy about Autumn is the fact I can wear clothes I feel comfortable in. I don't enjoy wearing summery clothes, and I'm not entirely sure why but it probably has something to do with the fact I don't fully love my body, hence why you'll find me happiest in jumpers, jeans and cosy yet bright socks! I really love the baggy, patterned grandad-style jumpers you find in charity shops. I also really like wearing scarves, jackets and even boots, I'm excited to wear my boots soon and hear the sound of the leaves crunching underneath my feet.
Foods
I'm not even sure where to start on the autumnal delights you can feast on! The obvious starting point is the vast array of pumpkins and squashes that line the shelves of the supermarkets and other shops, and all the great things you can make with them! I am really excited to be making some butternut squash and pumpkin soup soon, and pumpkin-based treats like pies, biscuits, even coffees! Other foods include stews, other soups, shepherd's pies (lentils and root veg of course!) and anything else I can make using the great array of fruit and veg available to me.
I also really enjoy the hot drinks that are commonplace this time of year - I have never had a pumpkin spiced latte but they always seem to smell so good, I'm going to try and make my own vegan ones at home! I am also enjoying my apple and cinnamon tea, as well as chai latte, hot chocolates and other nice brews too. There are so many great smelling drinks that you'd be mad not to at least contemplating trying them. Anything with cinnamon is a must for me right now, it tastes so good!
Nature
I am so lucky that my campus is so beautiful all year round, but in Autumn it just seems to look stunning. The leaves fall from the trees and cover the ground in shades of purple, brown and yellow and the cows and sheep wander around looking a bit confused about it all! The lake especially looks amazing, but I get too scared of the swans there to go and take pictures (I managed it once, and then a swan chased me for a bit!) I encourage everyone to go outside and soak in the beauty of Autumn before it rains constantly and it turn into a Winter that nobody wants to venture into.
*
These might seem like small reasons to love a season, but these three reasons make the season one of my favourites (that and Halloween, but that's just a given!) and I hope agree that it's a brilliant time of year even if it's not your favourite!
B x
