Heyo!
First of all, I do apologise for the late upload of this post! I have been out for most of the day, and when I got back all I wanted to do was sort out everything and get my room looking beautiful, which I have succeeded in doing as I type these very words! If you didn't read the title, I went to IKEA today, along with my housemate and all-round great bean E-J, and we went to get a couple of bits.
Now, anyone who has ever been to IKEA or had family/friends go there knows that one does not simply pop into IKEA for some Tupperware and only buy said Tupperware. They end up bringing back a mirror, oven gloves, cups, cutlery, bedding and a multitude of things they didn't set out to get nor do they actually need. This was me today, and to an extent it was E-J too. However, my friends have reassured me I was allowed to treat myself as it was the anniversary of the original 'Treat Yo'Self' from Parks and Recreations.
So, I went in with the intention of buying something to hold my records and to have my record player on, a bedside table of sorts and a frame for my Totoro artwork I bought in Brighton at the end of the summer. I did get these things, but I also bought other things like a big cactus, new bedding, candles, kitchen bits, a gift for my mum and some bits for gifting others. I got too much, as is the IKEA way!
When we got there, me and E-J were both so overwhelmed at everything, we spent rather a long time looking around all of the showrooms and finding things for our records and record players and bedside tables (E-J needed these things too!) and also picking up bits we didn't need at all!
E-J and I had several moments like this, and we laughed so much! |
Again, more things you don't need but kinda sorta want, right? |
We also had a really good laugh as we went around, mucking about with things and generally having a good time! Once we sorted out what we wanted we grabbed IKEA's speciality meal - meatballs and chips! Vegan friends rejoice, as if you go you can have the veggie meatballs with chips, just ask for them without the gravy (you're welcome!)
The infamous meatballs - closest are the meaty ones, further away are my vegan ones! |
After some much-needed food, we went around the other half of IKEA where all the cups, rugs, toys and other homey bits were. This was so much fun, and we again spent a while here looking at things and just convincing the other to treat themselves because they really deserve that cactus !
E-J got this HUGE one for £8, also look at this adorable bean! |
We then went and tried to find the furniture in the warehouse - this is trickier than it seemed as we forgot to write things down so had to use the computers there to search it all up and make note of where to find it! Once we found them, we hurried and tried to find the stuff - and boy can some flat-packs be heavy! Nonetheless, we went to the tills and just before we left we found these huge sharks that I wanted to buy there and then. We hurried over to the tills to try and beat rush hour traffic back to Bath, and reluctantly waited for the tills to tell us our fate - I only spent £56 which was really good for all the stuff I got, and I had put it away for the trip because I needed to get something for all my records and my player as they were getting a bit damaged! All in all, a very successful trip and we left with a big blue band to hand and a trolley full of furniture!
Here's me being that shark from that Superbowl performance! |
