Favourite Records

Heyo!

I constantly get asked to do a vinyl haul post, it's one of my most requested videos and has been ever since I featured my record player in my uni room tour from when I lived in halls. I need to stress now that this is not my full collection because I could write all day about how much I love each and every one of the records I own for a plethora of reasons.  This is simply going to me the records that I really love right now, for either sentimental reasons, the reasons they came to be in my possession or the way the songs and artists make me feel when I hear them.

These are records that I really highly rank and value, but this isn't to say there aren't the same reasons for me loving other ones too! These are also coincidentally the ones I have been playing the most recently, so I thought it would be good to show them to you all. I also love looking at what people listen to, because it helps you to gauge their mood and current mindset, what someone listens to can say so much about them as a person. So here are the fifteen records I'm listening to a lot right now, and that I love and rank so highly.

Fickle Friends - Swim (Single)

Top track: Swim (obviously!)
This was bought and signed by the band when I saw them in Moles in Bath, and they're the loveliest band and the song is an absolute bop that's helped me dance out serious anxieties and sadness

Twenty One Pilots - Disquaire Day (RSD Single)

Top Track: This medley on side A is amazing, and has all my favourite songs on it!
I love this band, they make me feel all the things and at the time I had never heard this live, and wasn't sure if I ever would! It's also a limited edition RSD exclusive, and it's got the stamp so it's an official numbered copy and I love it dearly

Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall

Top track: Another Brick In The Wall (again, obvious!)
This was actually a charity-shop find, but the song itself really resonates with me, I just really love it and it was such a steal int he shop! It's an original pressing for when it came out and it's all crackly at the start which makes me really happy too - I'm a sucker for crackling on records!

Submarine Soundtrack - Alex Turner

Top track: Glass in the Park
This film is beautiful, and the soundtrack compliments it so well. This is my go-to soundtrack when i'm feeling sad or low, and it's been played a lot recently because I've got lots going on uni-wise and I just need to listen to beautiful lyrics and Alex Turner's voice is so beautiful

Brighton's Finest Vol. 1 - Various Brighton-based Artists

Top Track: The Wedding Present - She Won't Bow
This was another RSD'16 purchase which made its way to my collection, and I got it because it had so many amazing Brighton bands on it, ones I had loved for ages and newer ones I knew I would love given time to appreciate them. I have played this so much it was worth every single penny I paid for it.

The Killers - Sam's Town

Top track: Sam's Town/Where The White Boys Dance (I can't decide don't hate me!)
This album is my favourite studio album The Killers have ever done. It's so beautiful and makes me feel every emotion, and Brandon's voice is in top form here.

Patti Smith - Horses

Top Track: Gloria
Patti is a goddess that everyone should listen to, she's the right mix of rock, punk and beauty that appeals to so many. I love Patti so much and her music is so so beautiful but this album is her first and her voice is so good!

Lionel Richie - Can't Slow Down

Top Track: All Night Long (All Night)
Is it a vinyl collection post by Beckie without Lionel vinyl? The answer is no! This was bought for me by Ollie with the intention of using it for a uni project, but after opening the gatefold and seeing Lionel I couldn't get rid of him! He now finds himself at the butt of all my vinyl jokes, and I show him to everyone!

David Bowie - Hunky Dory

Top Track: Oh! You Pretty things
Again, Beckie loves David Bowie more than most, so a vinyl post without the great man himself wouldn't feel right! This is an original record my Auntie Di gave me for my birthday and it's so beautiful and I feel so lucky she's given it to me and also that she trust me enough to let me have it.

Slaves - Are You Satisfied?

Top track: Feed The Mantaray
This record has sentimental value to me because Jord got it for me for Christmas, and he knew I'd love it and wrapped it up so brilliantly, and it's one of the nicest gifts I have ever received. It's such an amazing album and I scream along to all the songs, they're an amazing band and it always reminds me of the times I have seen them live and how lucky I am to have friends that would think about me so much they'd get me a present this brilliant and thoughtful

Twenty One Pilots - Vessel

Top track: Trees
This was a gift for Christmas and I cried when I opened it because the album, band, and person who gifted me this are all so amazing. Again such a thoughtful gift that I didn't deserve, but one that I will treasure forever, plus the clear vinyl is so beautiful and plays really well too

The Smiths - The World Won't Listen

Top track: Asleep
The album is a 'greatest hits' of sorts, and has all of my favourite songs by the band on. I know all the words and sing along every time, and it was given to me by one of my favourite people and I play it frequently because it calms me down and reminds me of so many good memories.

Blur - Parklife

Top track: Parklife (a BANGER)
This was given to me by my wonderful mum for my birthday, and I am always playing this and singing along, and it's bright yellow and really thick so it doesn't jump or make the scratchy noise. Whenever I flick through and see it I think of my mum, and I can hear her singing along when I listen to it too!

Joy Divisions - Closer

Top track: Atrocity Exhobition
This whole album is a work of art and deserves more credit than it actually gets, often overshadowed by the band's infamous Unknown Pleasures album. It's a re-issue but plays so well and has kept the original sound of the songs without sounding too new and remastered. The album has so many songs on that have helped me a lot when things got/get tough, and will be a staple this year when I am writing, editing and getting stuff done!

Frightened Rabbit - State Hospital

Top track: Wedding Gloves
My friend Jack recommended this band to me a ew years ago and I've been in love with them and their work ever since. The songs are a mix of depressing and uplifting, each with its own unique sound. This is an EP, but it's the only record of theirs I own as they are too expensive to get imported from America, but this always reminds me of Jack and our friendship which is really good
