Self-Care Is Important

Heyo!

This post is just going to be a small explanation as to why I've been absent this month, but new posts are on the way so stick around!

This month has been a rollercoaster, I've had to deal with lots of different tasks, deadlines and personal obstacles regarding my physical and mental health. This brings me on to what everyone's probably thinking, this is the first post this month and it's another apology for not writing more, right? Wrong.

I've had to put myself first at the moment, I am rubbish at putting myself and my needs before others, it's probably because I care for others and their wellbeing more than my own. That's okay to an extent, but I ran myself down so much this month I got sick. So I've been doing some self-care and I finally feel a bit better about myself. I've invested in some good teas, some bath bombs and such (I take baths more now, they are very relaxing and bubble bars and all good things from Lush help you calm down so much) and I feel more like me again.

Baked vegan cheesecake at 12am is how to celebrate the end of a stressful few weeks!

I've been baking more, I even made this really yummy vegan cheesecake after writing my last essay to de-stress, and cake really does fix 99% of problems!

I've finally finished studying and writing about Clarissa (don't read it, not worth it at all!) and I've moved onto books that are less emotionally draining like LeFanu's In A Glass Darkly and a selection of Samuel Beckett plays. My personal goal to read more (ideally a book a week) is going really well too, with another three under my belt this month.

I want everyone to realise that self-care is really important, even if to you it simply means treating yourself to an extra 5 minutes in the shower because your favourite song came on. It's crucial to make sure that you are okay, and time spent on making sure that you're okay is time well spent.

B x

(PS. If anyone has any good book recommendations then please send them my way!)
