What I'm Giving Up For Lent

Heyo!

For those of you who know me, you'll know I always take part in lent. Now, I'm not religious at all and I don't do it for any other reason than because I want to challenge myself to something new that can benefit me in some way. The first time I properly did lent I gave up meat, and it was so easy I kept on going! Whilst I did lapse for a while for medical reasons I know it was one of the best decisions I ever made! I have since given up the following things for lent: chocolate, biscuits, dairy and eggs, and last year I forced myself to post something everyday online. By doing these things, I was able to better myself by sharing snippets of my day, cutting out foods that aren't always good for you, and making healthier life choices for me.

So, I have decided that this year I will be doing it again, to try and better myself even further, and also hopefully be able to do more with my time. I am deleting social media off of my phone for lent. It took a lot of deliberation for me to decide what to do, but I really feel that this will work wonders for my productivity! I have to hand in 12,000 words before the 23rd March, so I reckon deleting all social media from my phone will really help me to do this to the very best of my ability!

I won't be tweeting, snapchatting, instagramming or using Facebook on my phone and I'm really excited to see how much more I get done with my day without these distractions! I have decided I can use them on my laptop, but I should limit my usage to as little as possible because otherwise there's no point!

I will still reply to my messages on messenger when on my computer, but I won't be as easy to get a hold of. I am excited to drop off of the grid a bit more, because I worry I use social media too much and want to be able to do more in my days than scrolling through the same stuff on my phone - plus, think of all the storage it'll have for my music!

If you need me, then your best bet would be to see if I'm online or drop me a text i guess! I will give a review/update mid-way, and again at the end of lent reflecting on it all.

I hope whatever you give up for lent (if you do lent) that you stick to it and feel the benefits, and if you don't do lent, then eat all the pancakes and have a great time!

B x
